Subject: Horrendously incompetent Amazon delivery partners in Croatia!

Hi Jeff,

To start with a clickbait, as seems to be necessary these days, Amazon has just taken away my Christmas, and I am not happy about it.

How is it possible that a company as successful and efficient as Amazon can’t resolve problems with massively late (or completely missing!) deliveries in Croatia for the whole two years? I know we are a minuscule market for Amazon, so I am not expecting much effort, but then again I had actually never had any problems with deliveries in Croatia from Croatian firms so evidently there are firms in Croatia that know how to deliver packages correctly and on time. It just seems that Amazon uses others, namely AT Post, which was the culprit in all my three problematic deliveries.

The funny thing is, fourteen books I ordered from amazon.co.uk in late November were not actually my Christmas present. Mostly biographies, meant to complete my collection (and be read throughout the next couple of decades), I was counting on getting those books at the start of December and I immediately started filling my basket with books I actually planned on reading next year.

“The moment Amazon delivery guy rings the bell, I am ordering this”

Well, the guy never rang, and my Christmas present book selection is still in my basket at amazon.co.uk. And my package? It seems nobody actually knows where it is. Last known location is Austria, on 7th December (the day it was meant to be delivered at my door), when it was “delivered to subcontractor”.

“But these are testing times with coronavirus pandemic!” I hear you say, and you would be right. But nevertheless, what we have here is a systemic problem, present for quite a lot of time that pandemic just made much worse.

I got my money back, no worries there (and kudos to Amazon for the way it handles these situations), but … what am I to do now? I’ve been ordering books from Amazon since 1999 (I checked the order, and there it was, January 12th 1999. – “Classical Electrodynamics” by Jackson for 89 $, among others 😎, where am I going to get my next “fix”? Bookdepository and abebooks are Amazon subsidiaries, so no luck there (or, same problems).

So I am asking – would it be possible, as a Christmas present for your devoted Croatian customers, to look into this issue with Croatian (or whichever, it is a global world now) partners that perform delivery services for Amazon in Croatia, and make some “corrections” and “adjustments” so that we can continue to shop at Amazon happily and without stressing about whether we are ever going to receive what we paid for?

Sincerely,

Zvonimir Vanjak
